Dr.
Kinshuk Biswas's Grand father Dr. R.B.Biswas was an Eye Specialist.
He is founder of
"Namita Biswas Memorial Eye Hospital" in West
Bengal, India. Mrs. Namita Biswas started this program forty years back only
with the cooperation of her husband Dr.R.B.Biswas.
Dr.Sabita Sarkar ( Ex. C.M.O Coal India), Mr. Bikash
Biswas ( elder son of Dr. Biswas ) & Group of Bandekar
( Mine owners of Goa ) donated to Dr. R. B. Biswas to
purchase Land for Hospital. Today, The " Namita
Biswas Memorial Eye Hospital" is standing upon the
same land in West Bengal. By 1992, the Family members of
Dr. R. B. Biswas completed a four storied building for the
Hospital sponsored by foreign donor. Presently the
Hospital is administrated by the local people.
Today Dr. Kinshuk Biswas MBBS. MS ( Ophthalmology )
is only following the foot-print of Grand parents and has
formed a Trust in the name of “
Namita Biswas & Dr.R.B.Biswas Memorial Trust
” in New Delhi, India for remembrance of his
grand parents and to provide free service for the helpless.
It targets the lower socio-economic strata of people
covering areas like Dakshinpuri, Madangir, Sangam Vihar
etc. in south Delhi. We have also taken over four stored
building in Dakshinpuri for our Trust where various eye
examinations activities occur with the help of modern
instruments like Auto-refractometer, Slitlamp,
Synophotophore, Keratometer, A-scan etc. Presently
Dr.Kinshuk is using his own set up of Microsurgery, Phacomusification and necessary
accessories for charitable activities through his Trust for necessary treatment of
the helpless. We are now planning to concentrate the
surgical activities in our Trust building in Dakshinpuri
and consequently form an independent Eye Hospital
dedicated solely for the needy. For
this benevolent cause we looking forward for your kind
help and co-operation.

A tale of the past, rather a legend as she is no more in
the midst of us. She came as messenger of some divine
mission and departed after the objective of the mission
achieved. She is
Mrs. Namita Biswas wife of Dr. R. B.
Biswas.
About forty years back the conception of a benevolent
Society sparked in the mind of Late Mrs. Namita Biswas
Centering round a poor old beggar. Cataract of this beggar
was operated by Late D. R.B. Biswas ( Hony. Visiting Eye
Surgeon, Cooch Behar Dist. Govt. Hospital ) |

|
In
the British period there were only two
prestigious posts of Hony. Eye Surgeon in West
Bengal, One was "Medical College" in
Kolkata and another one was in
the district town of Cooch Behar.

After
cataract operation a patient needs a high power glass for
regaining clear vision. Due to the high cost of glass it
was beyond the means of the beggar to purchase. This old
man used to visit Dr.Biswas in his chamber often with the
request for allowing him to use that high power glass (
This glass is used for eye testing ), so that he may look round and appreciate the
beauty of nature for a few minutes. After using the glass
for 5-10 minutes outside the chamber he used to return the
glasses and left with full of sadness.
After watching this frequent happening Mrs. Biswas felt
pretty hurt the inadequacy of hospital facilities
primarily meant for the poor people. She felt that without
proper glasses the treatment is incomplete and she felt
very sorry for this half hearted treatments. After a month
or so Mrs. Biswas handed over to Dr. Biswas Rs. 30/- only
from her household expenses and ask him to purchase the
required glasses for the beggar.
This was done and the beggar was virtually elated by the
generosity of Mrs. Biswas. She too felt very happy and the
happiness she derived from that simple act inspired her to
conceive the formation of a society with able support to
her husband Dr. R.B.Biswas in the year 1965.
Today, it is the cause behind
"Namita Biswas Memorial Eye Hospital" in West Bengal, India. Thousands and thousands eye patients are getting back their vision from here.
As well as her son and grand son Dr.Kinshuk Biswas MBBS.MS
(Ophthalmology) are following the tradition of their predecessors for prevention of blindness in New Delhi, India.
